Best Motoring: Blast From The Past

圖片
During the covid lockdown when I didn't have to go to school, I bought my first laptop that I own personally, a M1 MacBook Air which I still use till this day. I spent a lot of time watching Youtube videos at home because it was just so boring staying at home, and that's when I found a Youtube channel that essentially changed my taste in cars.     I spent a few years of my childhood in Germany so I naturally became a big fan of the "BBA" group and Porsches, all the Japanese that I've ever seen on the road are just generically ugly boxes. They looked so depressing to me because at the time I really couldn't understand why would anyone  spend so much money just to buy these miserable looking things. I thought at that time that if I had the  money to buy my own car, I'm buying one that will make me smile every time I look at it. Anyway, the channel I stumbled upon on Youtube was a channel that posted countless super old Japanese motoring journalist videos...

Some Cars And Some Facts (Read if you can't sleep)

圖片
I saw a channel with many videos talking about 20 fun facts of things with a soothing voice, it helped me a lot during the nights which I can't fall asleep. Since my sleep quality for this week isn't optimum, I thought I would lend a helping hand to people having similar problem like me. The Honda NSX     One of my favorite cars of all time. For any Honda fans or Formula one fans, this is the car with the highest technological and historical status. If you didn't know, Honda was quite an exciting brand back in the 80s and 90s, and that has a lot to do with the founder himself, Mr. Honda Soichiro. After Honda as a corporation has expanded in the 1960s, Mr. Honda wanted to further improve the quality of their products. Instead of training engineers the old fashioned way which is rather  inefficient, he decided to participate in Formula One as use it as a proving ground for the engineers. If anyone does well on the team, that person get paid more handsomely whe...

Rally Is Not Just Cool

This week has been super tiring for me for some reason. I slept a lot every day but still felt drowsy every morning, maybe it's time for me to work on my sleeping pattern. but anyway, talking about cars always makes me exited, so let's kick on.       When I just started watching  YouTube, there were two types of video that I watched the most: Pewdiepie and dangerous rally compilations. I had little toy cars ever since I could remember, so when I first saw cool cars in motion at the time, it was probably the most intensive adrenaline rush I've experienced. Among the super fast and dangerous rally cars, there were a few that stood out to me. And two of them were the Audi Quattro and Lancia 037 Evo. After I grew a bit older, I started watching a car show called Top Gear, and in the program the hosts introduced one of my favorite motorsport rivalries of all time, Audi v.s. Lancia.     I will say as far as I can remember with a litt...

Bad News For Gamers This Week!

Very Bad news for gamers this week! This Friday night was made gloomy for me by a massive bad news. The super popular game title GTA's sixth sequel would be delayed until May 2026! For a gamer like myself, I have been waiting for this ever since I started gaming. Just to give you an Idea on the scale of this situation, let me hit you with some stats real quick. The previous sequel to the series, GTA5, was released 13 years ago. It was such a revolutionary game that until this very month, there are still 10 million players that log in EVERY SINGLE DAY to play the game. The game itself has sold over 210 million copies and it is still selling like crazy as we speak. Because of all these crazy stats, GTA5 is widely considered as THE most successful entertainment product of all time, clocking at a revenue of over 8.5 billion US dollars. Now we're not talking about most successful game or some weird stuff like "Electronic entertainment", we are talking about all of the...

My Favorite Race Track: Nürburgring Nordschleife

圖片
I've written about music for the past few weeks, so I thought I might switch the flavor for this week, since I'm feeling like it. And I think it is pretty obvious by now, the fact that I have two major hobbies: music and cars, but I also love anything that comes with them. Many people don't know that, but music and cars actually intertwine with each other throughout the history of them. The Pixar movie CARS is a really good example of this, especially the first episode. If you haven't watched it, please do, because it is bloody amazing, amazing shots, soundtrack, and culture. Anyway, back to the topic for this week, the Nürburgring. If you wonder why you couldn't pronounce the name really well or even don't know how to read it, don't worry, it's not English. It is actually German, and that is the place where this race track of all race tracks is located.     Just to give you an Idea, it normally takes one to 2 minutes for a common type of race car...

Fusion Jazz: CASIOPEA

圖片
Fusion Jazz, Jazz Fusion, whatever you call it, is a popular type of Jazz many people don't even know the name of. It also happens to be one of my favorite types of Jazz, so I decided to talk about it this week. I mentioned Fusion Jazz as one of the genre Miles Davis created in my blog post last week, what I didn't say is that it might be the most influential type of Jazz ever created. After the late 60s since its creation, many artists took on this fresh style of Jazz and played with it, one of them is the band I'm going to talk about this time: Casiopea. From the quirky English name you might have guessed, it's a Japanese band. And don't worry, their music isn't the serious type like Miles Davis, quite the opposite actually.     Founded in the late 70s, the band took on all the swagger and style Japan had at that time. The band was known for its highly technical, melodic, and intricate funky music, they became a hit in the Japanese music scene as soon as t...

Let's Talk Jazz Again : The Chameleon Miles Davis

Last week I wrote about many Jazz artists, from the ones that are super popular till this day, to the classics of the Jazz community. But among the many great Jazz musicians in  music history, there is one that has been my favorite for a long time: Miles Davis, which was the one I mentioned last week as the example of "Hard to listen to". But you couldn't be more wrong to categorize him as that type of artist, no, Miles is one of the most diverse and innovative music genius ever existed.      My relationship with Miles Davis's music started out very early, but unfortunately, too early for my young mind to comprehend. I think I was around 5th grade, and my German teacher recommended me some pieces of music as we did every week after we had class at the time. And that was when he showed me a live performance of Miles's famous song " So What". ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqNTltOGh5c  this is the exact video he showed me back then, en...
